Jodie K. Schulke, age 42, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, in Colorado Springs.

Jodie Kae Schulke was born August 5, 1962, in Storm Lake to Geroge E. and Judy K. (Else) Schulke. In December of 1967, she moved with her family to live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she remained until the time of her death.

Jodie was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake on September 9, 1962. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Colorado Springs, where she was confirmed as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She continued her education at Mitchell High School and Pikes Peak Community college. She worked in various food service industries, most recently as a manager with Papa Murphy's. Jodie enjoyed children, her collection of more than 85 dolls, doing crossword puzzles, and needlework.

In 1991, she was diagnosed with diabetes, complications of which led to her unexpected death.

Jodie is survived by her mother, Judy K., and her husband, Gaylen Winterhof, of Galva; her father, George E. Schulke, Sr., of Waxachaxie, Texas; three sisters: Kim, and her husband, Dave Thomas, of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Jill and her husband, Bob Bryant, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Mindy Schulke and Dave Natale of Arden Hills, Minnesota; two brothers: George Schulke, Jr., of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and William Schulke, of Fort Collins, Colorado; a niece and nephew: Rossy Natale and Nick Schulke of Arden Hills, Minnesota; her paternal grandmother, Martha Schulke of Marion; other special family members: Scott, Tonia, and Bailey Winterhof, of Galva, and Jeff, Krista, Jessica, and Kyle Johnson of Albert City; and many special aunts, uncles and cousins as well as a host of friends.

Jodie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edith and Arnold Else and Walter Schulke; her uncle, Bill Else; and her cousin, Randy Else.

Memorial services for Jodie Schulke were held in Colorado Springs on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Private family graveside services were held Friday, September 3, 2004, at 6:00 p.m. at Galva East Cemetery in Galva with Reverend Paul Egger of St. John's Lutheran Church in Galva officiating. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
