Gerald Hageman
(September 5, 1946 - April 1, 2011)Gerald Hageman, age 64, of Cresco, Iowa, formerly of Calmar, Decorah, and Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, April 1, 2011, at his home in Cresco, Iowa.
Gerald Joseph Hageman was born on September 5, 1946, the son of Leonard and Frances (Andera) Hageman in Decorah, Iowa. Gerald attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and South Winn Schools. In 1975, he moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where he worked for Billmore Foods. He retired in 2002 and moved to Decorah and then to Cresco in 2006 to live near his sister, Carol, so she could check on him every day. He enjoyed playing cards, bingo, bowling, playing the lottery and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. Gerald was a member of the Moose Lodge in Storm Lake and the Knights of Columbus in Decorah.
Gerald’s survivors include his three sisters: Carol (Johnnie) Vobr, Cresco, Iowa, Jane (Jerry) Theis, Carver, Minnesota, and Doris (Craig) Severson, Forest Lake, Minnesota; four brothers: Albert (friend, Lois Wiskus) Hageman, Fort Atkinson, Iowa, David (Charla) Hageman, Decorah, Iowa, Mike (Marsha) Hageman, Fort Atkinson, Iowa, and Jim (Eleanor) Hageman, Calmar, Iowa; his nieces and nephews: Gary (Megan) Hubka, Steven Hubka, Danae (Ilan) Isakov, Theresa Hauser, Patrick Hageman, Natalie Hageman, Sara Theis, Roger (Jodi) Theis, Lee (Jamie) Theis, Amy Wakem, Angela (Shaun) Conley, Nathan Hageman, Nancy (Dean) Franzen, Joseph (friend, Valerie Bode) Hageman, Jeremy (Kerra) Hageman, Jamie (Heather) Hageman, Jennifer (Mark) Monroe, and Seth, Cody and Tanner Miner; and his great nieces and nephews: Riley, Carter, Chase, Parker, Lani, Caden, Michael, Nicholas, Dillon, Christopher, Lucas, Daniel, Jefferson, Jackson, Kiana, Logan, Mason, Joshua, Bruce, Billie, Bobbi, Bailey, Isaac, Ryan, Steven, Nicholas, Collin, Hannah, Brenna, Kaleb, Cameron, Jacob, Jaedyn, Ethan, Evan, and Elliot; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Frances Hageman, one nephew, Jason Hageman; and two brothers-in-law, Dorian Schmitt and Arlyn Hubka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa, and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning. There will be a rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.
