June 9, 1920 - February 26, 2011June Thieman, age 90, of Albert City, Iowa, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.
June Margaret Alma Sophie Kischer Thieman, the daughter of Walter and Florence (Swanberg) Kischer was born in Albert City, Iowa, on June 9, 1920. June lived her youth in Albert City, graduating from Albert City High School in 1938. Following graduation, she attended Iowa State University.
On November 14, 1944, June was united in marriage to Wayne Thieman at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City while Wayne was on leave from active duty in the United States Navy. The marriage was blessed with three children, Jon, Kent and Kay.
For a short time after their marriage, Wayne and June lived in San Diego, California, while Wayne waited for his discharge from the Navy. They also lived in Storm Lake and Washta, Iowa, where Wayne completed his education and then began his teaching career. In 1949, Wayne and June moved to the Thieman family farm in rural Newell, Iowa, where they enjoyed raising their family. June was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, singing in the choir for many years.
From 1964 until 1982, June worked as a bookkeeper at Alceco in Albert City. For several years following their retirement, Wayne and June enjoyed spending winters in St. Petersburg, Florida. During the fall of 2005, they became residents of Pleasant View Home.
Those who will always cherish the memories of June include her children and their spouses: Jon and Kelly Thieman, of Edgewood, Washington, Kent and Shelly Thieman, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Kay and Wade Little, of Hudson, Colorado; her grandchildren: Abby and Brad Beane, of North Liberty, Iowa, Nic and Lauren Thieman and great grandson Nicholas, of Powell, Ohio, Alex Thieman, of Tacoma, Washington, and Alyson Thieman, of Auburn, Washington; her brother, Everett Kischer of Brewster, Massachusetts, and her nephew, Scott and Bonnie Kischer, of Wheaton, Illinois, along with other relatives and friends
June was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne, on November 14, 2008, the day of their 64th wedding anniversary.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Albert City. Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 6, 2011, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City where the family will be present the entire time. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
