Edna W. Gaston died May 10, 1971, at the Buena Vista County Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, May 12, 1971, at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Alta with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Edna Winifred Samuelson was born November 5, 1889, in Logan County, Kansas, to Peter and Candace Samuelson. She taughter several years in Marshall County, Kansas, schools. On June 17, 1914 she was married to James Hubert Gaston at Axtell, Kansas.

Mr. and Mrs. Gaston moved to Alta in 1957. They were members of the Alta Presbyterian church. Mr. Gaston preceded her in death on April 26, 1962.

She is survived by five children: Wayne H., of Aurelia, William S., of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, James H., Jr., of Storm Lake, Edna Elizabeth Mugasis, of Clinton, and Gracia Davenport of Sioux City; fifteen grandchildren, and a brother, Ernest Samuelson, of Axtell, Kansas (Alta Advertiser, 5-13-1971).
