Gilbert R. Wilbur
April 1, 1902 - February 14, 1978Gilbert R. Wilbur, 75, died February 14, 1978, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. Funeral services were are the First Christian Church in Laurens with interment in the Poland Township Cemetery near Marathon.
Gilbert Ross Wilbur was born April 1, 1902, at Rembrandt to Walter and Isabel Bond Wilbur. He was united in marriage to Edythe Kirsch on February 6, 1924, in Spencer. They were blessed with eight children. Edythe Kirsch died July 23, 1967. On October 17, 1968, Mr. Wilbur married Mae Youngblood at Carroll. She died October 8, 1970.
In a addition to his wives, Mr. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
His survivors include five daughters, Eva Knudtson, of Sioux Rapids, Bernadine Mead and Karen Cross, of Spencer, Beverly Perrigo, of Truesdale, and Myrna Bouska, of Laurens; three sons, Norman, of Cherokee, Leo, of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Galen, of Manson; 24 grandchildren; two brothers, Ray, of Spencer and John, of Albert City; three sisters, Mary McKinstry, of Albert City, Gladys Green, of Portland, Oregon, and Irene Parks, of Astoria, Oregon (abstract, Laurens Sun, 2-23-1978).
