Norris G. Olney
[December 16, 1885]* - [November 1, 1878]**Norris G. Olney, 92, died at his home in Marathon. Services were held November 4, 1978, at the United Methodist Church in Marathon with burial in the Poland Township Cemetery.
Mr. Olney grew up in the Marathon area and graduated from law school at the University of Michigan in 1914. He and his brother Rick founded the Citizens State Bank in Marathon.
On September 16, 1924, Norris Olney and Doris B. Hawk were united in marriage. She survives him. He is also survived by five sons, Richard N., Solliès-Toucas, France; John W., of St. Louis; James L., of Amherst, Massachusetts; and Byron A., of Rochester, Minnesota; two daughters, Margaret McBride, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Elizabeth Stecher, of Silver Spring, Maryland. One daughter, Frances Miller, preceded him in death (abstract, Laurens Sun, 11-16-1978).
