November 10, 1906 - July 27, 1978

Harold W. Aringdale, 71, of Cherokee, formerly of Marathon died July 27, 1978, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee after a lengthy illness. Services were Saturday in the Hitchcock-Smith Chapel in Laurens with burial in the Poland Township Cemetery near Laurens.

Harold Wilfred Aringdale was born November 10, 1906, at LaSalle, to Carl and Julia Sanders Aringdale. When he was a boy his family moved to South Dakota. He married first Freda Lee; she died in 1936. He, then, married Margaret Florence Smith on June 1, 1940, in Mallard. They lived in Winfred, South Dadota, and later moved to Lehigh. In 1956, they moved to Marathon where they lived for over twenty years. They recently moved to Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; a son, Cecil, in infancy; his parents; and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; his sons, Harold Duane, of Storm Lake, and Lavern, of Charles City; two daughters, Mrs. Julia McGee and Mrs. Janice Sassman, of Cherokee; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Denzil, of Osceola (abstract, Laurens Sun, 8-3-1978).
