Catherine L. Todd, age 89, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Catherine LaVerne Bond was born on February 8, 1921, in Battle Township, Ida County, Iowa, the daughter of Merton and Emma (Worthington) Bond. She attended school in the Ida Grove country schools.
On October 21, 1939, Catherine was united in marriage to Robert Lowell Todd in Storm Lake. This couple was blessed with three children: Robert LeRoy, Judy Joan and William Merrill.
After Robert returned home to Iowa from serving his country during World War II, they made their home in Ida Grove until moving to the Todd farm in Silver Creek Township. In 1956, the family moved to Storm Lake. Catherine was in domestic help while Robert worked as a painter and decorator.
Catherine took much pride in providing a warm and comfortable home for her family. She was a wonderful cook, especially famous for her homemade breads and cinnamon rolls. In addition, she also worked at Alf's Manufacturing, Buena Vista College and Buena Vista Stationery as well as as a child care provider in Storm Lake.
Catherine cherished the time she spent with her family and especially with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Catherine was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake where she served with the Presbyterian Women. She was also active in the Storm Lake Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading and embroidering as well as sewing and working on crafts. She resided at Otsego Place in Storm Lake for the last nine years where she partook in many of the activities offered there.
Those left to cherish Catherine’s memory are her children: Robert (Karen) Todd, of Wellsburg, Iowa, Judy (Gene) Halling, of Milford, Iowa, and William (Lesa) Todd, of Storm Lake; seven grandchildren: Stacey Caskey, Matt Todd, Alexis Todd, Sheri Melby, Troy Todd, Tonya Todd, and Angela Roquet; and sixteen great grandchildren as well as extended family and many friends.
Preceding Catherine in death were her husband; her parents; four brothers: Clifford, Willard, Gerald and Harold; and two sisters: Iola and Lucille.
Visitation: 6-8:00 p.m., February 07, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., February 08, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
