Linda (Littler) Gibson
August 14, 1953 - January 30, 2011

Linda (Littler) Gibson, age 57, of Albert City, Iowa, died January 30, 2011, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Linda Vegas, the daughter of Ben and Fe (Garzon) Vegas was born in Union City, California, on August 14, 1953. She lived her youth and received her education at Newark, California.

Linda’s life was blessed with three children: Cheryl, Larry, and Jack. For most of her life, Linda resided in Newark, California. She also worked as a short order cook for George’s Catering in San Jose, California.

Stricken with a form of dementia ten years ago, she came to make her home in Iowa in 2005. For the past four years, she was a resident of the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Having made her faith a focal point of her life, Linda loved attending church where she taught Sunday School. She also sang in the church choir and often performed vocal solos. As a testimony and heritage for her family, she leaves them with her eternally grateful love of the Lord.

Having a “green thumb,” Linda also filled her home at all times with flowers and plants.

Those who will always love and cherish her include her children: Cheryl and John Abbas, of Albert City, Iowa, Larry and Cassie Yartz, of Everly, Iowa, and Jack and Tanya Yartz, of Marathon, Iowa; a step-daughter, Janelle Littler, of Oakland, California; a step-son, Tom Bais, of California; her father, Ben Vegas, of California; her grandchildren: Misty Pettit; Emily, Adam, Catilyn, and Ryan Yartz; Robert, Taylor, Jenna, and Abraham Abbas; Preston, Jordan, Hailey, and Rafael Rockwell; and Kayla, Kendra, and Kandace Bais; her great grandchildren, Angel and Jovonna Pettit; one sister, Judy Cockrum, of Modesto, California; four brothers: Jim Vegas, of Spencer, Iowa, Daniel Vegas, of Sacramento, California, and Rubin and Tony Vegas, both of Hayward, California; as well as other extended family and many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, Ben, Jr.

Funeral services for Linda Gibson will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Pentecostal Church in Marathon, Iowa. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
