July 29, 1934 - February 27, 2004

Wanda L. Miller, age 69, of Sioux Rapids, passed away Friday, February 27, 2004, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Wanda Lou (Kraft) Miller, the only daughter of Amber and Harry Kraft, was born July 29, 1934, in Lavina. Wanda spent her childhood in the Fonda area and graduated from Fonda High School in 1953.

On June 5, 1953, Wanda was united in marriage to Jack Miller, and this union was blessed with three children: John, Julie and David. In their early-married years, they lived in a number of places, but raised their family while living in the Sioux Rapids area. Wanda loved living on the farm and was actively involved in the farming operations. In addition, she truly enjoyed gardening and preserving her garden's produce. Family and friends were often willing recipients of the wonderful talent she had for cooking.

Wanda's greatest love in life was caring for others. She was a faithful wife for over 50 years. As a mother, she found much joy in raising her family. She was an involved grandparent even during her battle with cancer. She attended school events whenever her grandchildren were involved. For over 30 years, she provided childcare for many families. She was not just a babysitter, The children she cared for and their families became a part of her own family. Over 100 Spencer area children were blessed with Wanda's gentle care. Her life has touched countless others and she will be deeply missed.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Jack Miller, of Sioux Rapids; three children: John and Dawn Miller, of Piedmont, South Dakota, Julie and Jon Bright, of Sioux Rapids, and David and Lisa Miller, of Marathon; her grandchildren: Cody, Eric and Alex Miller, Kirk and Kayla Bright, Kaleb and Colton Miller and Sara and Tara Pritchard; her mother, Amber Kraft, of Storm Lake and her brothers: Harry and Anne Kraft, of New York Mills, Minnesota, and Freddie and Karen Kraft, of Fonda.

Preceding Wanda in death were her father, Harry Kraft; her brothers: LeRoy and Dale Kraft; her parents-in-law: Alden and Edna Miller; and her brother-in-law, Gail Beauvais.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids with Pastor Emily Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
