James David Stacey
September 14, 1946 - December 26, 2010

James D. Stacey, age 64, of Marshall, Missouri, and formerly of Fonda, Iowa, died December 26, 2010, in Fonda, Iowa.

James David Stacey was born September 14, 1946, in Sac City, Iowa, the son of Cleo and Gertrude (Mackey) Stacey. On March 3, 1947, James was baptized into the Catholic faith and later confirmed in 1957.

Growing up, James lived in Fonda, Iowa, where he attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School and later graduated from Fonda High School in 1965.

Following high school graduation, on October 1, 1968, James enlisted in the United States Marine Corp to serve his country during the Vietnam War. While in the Marine Corps, he received numerous awards before he was honorably discharged on March 26, 1970.

On May 19, 1975, James was united in marriage to Janice Nieland in Miami, Oklahoma.

James was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Marshall, Missouri.

While living in Storm Lake, he worked at Hygrade. In Marshall, James worked at Wilsons and cleaned and swept chimneys and cooking vents for Hardees restaurants. He also worked at Marshall Habilitation center and owned Crazy Jim’s Army and Navy surplus store until he sold it because of his declining health.

James enjoyed photography and his computer. He loved his dogs and fishing with his buddy, Ed. One of his most special memories was a trip to New York City.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janice Stacey, of Marshall, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Marie Nieland, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his brother-in-law, Leroy Nieland, of Fonda, Iowa; his sisters-in-law: Carleen Schwieso, of Manilla, Iowa, Karen (Wilbur) Triplett of Storm Lake, Iowa, Rose (Dennis) Rasmussen, of Manilla, Iowa, Carol (Steve) Copeland, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jean (Matt) Fassler, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; seven nephews; two nieces; ten great nephews and nieces; and extended family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Gertrude Stacey; his father-in-law, Richard Nieland; and his great niece, Emily Nieland; as well as uncles, aunts and cousins.

Visitation: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. January 02, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. January 03, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Interment: January 03, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa
