Bernice L. "Bea" Dandy, age 88, of Storm Lake, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Bernice Louise Dandy was born January 8, 1916, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Roy and Amy (Sexton) Richardson. The family moved to Laurens in 1920. She attended grade school and high school in Laurens.

Bea married Floyd Dandy on June 1, 1946. They resided in Sioux Rapids until May of 1966 and at that time moved to Storm Lake to be closer to Floyd's job at Hy-Grade.

Bea was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She was active in the Ladies Aid Society and the Dorcas Guild at the church. In addition, she followed the lives of her grandchildren very closely. Bea will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered as a very loving wife, mom, and grandma.

Bea is survived by her husband, Floyd Dandy, of Storm Lake; a son, Rusty (Diane) Mohler, of Storm Lake; a daughter, Cynthia (Richard) Anderson, of Sioux Rapids; three grandchildren: Callie (Craig) Sullivan, of Dassel, Minnesota, Lorie (Doug) DeStigter, of Sioux City, and Jason Leidahl, of Sioux Rapids; three great-grandchildren: Tanner Terning, Camryn Sullivan and Naomi DeStigter; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Lestel Richardson, Loren Richardson, and Kenny Richardson and one sister, Geneva Bartley.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 19, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with Reverend Douglas Haynes and Reverend E. W. Lichtsinn officiating. Interment will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. A visitation will be Thursday, March 18, 2004, from 4-7 p.m. at the Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established.
