Lois Christine Jesse
September 22, 1925 - December 27, 2003Lois Christine Lydell was born September 22, 1925, in Cherokee County to John and Clara (Moding) Lydell. She was baptized in infancy and later confirmed at Immanul Lutheran Church, Elk Township. Lois graduated from Alta High School in 1943 and worked in the Buena Vista County Recorder's office.
On June 17, 1947, Lois married Glen Jesse. They farmed south and later west of Storm Lake until moving to Lake Creek in 1980. Lois was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church and appreciated the fellowship of their women's groups. She treasured time spent with family and friends and also enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting and other creative activities. She served as a 4-H leader and was a member of Questers.
She is survived by her husband; two children, her daughter, Diane, and her husband, Gregory Nelson, of Ames, and her son, Paul, and his wife, Donna, of Storm Lake; three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Rebekkah, and Stephanie Nelson, of Ames; a sister, Alice Libke, of Aurelia; and a brother, Everett, and his wife, Carol Lydell, of Brookings, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Donna Lydell, of Aurelia, and Lola Vesgaard, of Scottsdale, Arizona; a brother-in-law. Bob, and his wife, Donna Jesse, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and eight nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents and three brothers, Merle, Erving, and Roy Lydell.
Memorial gifts will be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church handicap accessibility fund.
A memorial service for Lois Jesse, 78, was held on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. She passed away peacefully on December 27, 2003, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
