Harold LeRoy Waltz
February 11, 1923 - January 2, 2004Harold LeRoy Waltz, 80, Ellsworth, Wisconsin, formerly of Storm Lake, died Monday, January 2, 2004, at the River Falls Area Hospital in Wisconsin.
Harold was born February 11, 1923, in El Paso, Wisconsin, the son of William and Rynetta (Jennings) Walz. Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until his discharge in 1946. He married Lois Pfluger on March 19, 1946, in Red Wing, Minnesota. Harold was the District Director for the USDA in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa for many years, retiring in 1982. For many of those years, Harold and Lois also lived in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Harold enjoyed camping, fishing, cutting wood and caring for his lawn.
He was a member of the Plum City American Legion, Hancock Lodge #229 of Free and Accepted Masons, Ellsworth, and the Maiden Rock United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, Ellsworth, Wisconsin; seven children: Gary (Delores) Waltz, Maiden Rock, Wisconsin, Neal (LeAnn) Waltz, Rush City, Minnesota, Guy (Carol) Waltz, Spooner, Wisconsin, Ned (Anna) Waltz, Plum City, Wisconsin, Nancy (Ronald) Speers, Alta, Gay (Douglas) Heath, Plum City, Wisconsin, and Nick (Heidi) Waltz, Ellsworth, Wisconsin; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Maiden Rock United Methodist Church, Maiden Rock, Wisconsin, with Rev. John Hazen officiating.
Burial will be in the Trenton Cemetery, Hager City, Wisconsin, in the spring with military rites provided at that time by the veterans of Plum City.
