Tami Kristensen, age 40, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died December 26, 2010, in Storm Lake.
Tami Jean Nelson was born October 27, 1970, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Bruce Nelson and Susan (Flanigan) Tate. In 1971, Tami was baptized at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where she was later confirmed.
Growing up, Tami attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1989. Following graduation, she attended Iowa Central Community College and Buena Vista University where she earned her teaching degree.
Tami loved living life and raising her two sons: Joshua Matthew and Jacob Andrew Kristensen. She loved being the hostess of the family. She treasured spending time with her boys and her brothers while making time to spoil her nieces and nephews. Her courage was very contagious during the good and difficult times in her life. She also took great pride in teaching and being a mother.
Tami enjoyed golfing, baking cookies, playing cards and lying out in the sun. Family meant the world to Tami, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Joshua Matthew Kristensen and Jacob Andrew Kristensen, both of Des Moines, Iowa; her brothers: Chad (Michelle) Damewood, of Yorkville, Illinois, Johnny (Amanda) Damewood, of Alta, Iowa, and Gary Damewood, of Alta, Iowa; her nieces and nephews: Ashley Damewood, of Alta, Iowa, Jossylyn Damewood, of Yorkville, Illinois, and Chase, Chandler and Amelia Damewood of Alta, Iowa; as well as her aunts; uncles; cousins; and extended family and many friends.
Tami was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Visitation: 5-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. December 29, 2010, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
