Tim F. Smith, age 50, of Quimby, formerly of Sioux Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 3, 2003, in Sioux City.

Timothy Fay Smith, one of four children of Jack and Shirley (Wilson) Smith, was born on November 4, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in the Storm Lake area and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1973. On November 18, 1973, Tim was united in marriage to Donna Johnson, and this union was blessed with two daughters, Julie and Chris. In 1994, Tim was united in marriage to Doreen Tuttle and was blessed to adopt his third daughter, Kari.

Tim worked hard to provide for his family. He was employed at the Wonder Tire Shop and then at Simonsen Iron Works in Sioux Rapids for 19 years. He moved to Cherokee and later to Quimby. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pool. Tim had a very special relationship with his daughters and was an important part of his grandchildren's lives. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Tim is survived by his three daughters: Julie Kell, and her husband, Bryan, of Galva, Chris Hartfield, and her husband, Tommy, of Sioux Rapids, and Kari Smith, of Galva; his mother, Shirley Parris, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; his three brothers: John Smith, and his wife, Mary, of Linn Grove, Mike Smith and Janell, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Dan Smith and his wife, Mary, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; four grandchildren: Cody and Aimee Kell, of Galva, and Tamara and Terry Hartfield, of Sioux Rapids; and several nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Preceding Tim in death was his father, Jack Smith.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 7, 2003, at the Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
