Eunice Specketer
December 18, 1922 - October 5, 2003Eunice Specketer, 80, of Alta, was born on December 18, 1922, near Storm Lake, the youngest child of Walter and Anna (Lucht) Sievers. She was brought to faith through baptism at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake and was later confirmed and married in this same church.
Eunice's education consisted of both parochial and public schooling. She graduated from high school in Newell. She later took college credit classes and passed her state exams as a licensed insurance agent. The last twenty-five of her working years, she was employed at insurance agencies both in Le Mars and Fort Dodge.
On April 16, 1944, Eunice was united in marriage to Arlin W. Specketer of Alta. This union was blessed with three sons. Eunice and Arlin both served as foster parents for several children during their early-married life.
Eunice served her church and the Lord on many committees and in many offices. She was also a member of various choirs for over fifty years. Eunice and Arlin also served as youth counselors for eight years at St. Peter's Church in Newell.
Eunice entered the Holy Kingdom on October 5, 2003, reaching the age of 80 years and 10 months.
She is survived by her husband, Arlin, of Lakewood, Colorado; three sons, Gary, and wife, Brenda, of Blaine, Minnesota, Bruce, of Wagner, South Dakota, and Mark, and wife, Janie, of Evergreen, Colorado; five grandchildren, Angie Specketer, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Paul, and wife, Raquel Specketer, of Shakopee, Minnesota, Brandon and Kristen Specketer, of Norman, Oklahoma, and Cody Specketer, of Morris, Minnesota; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Bialon, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
Her parents, Walter and Anna Sievers; her sister, Verlyn Grote; and her brother, Ingvahl Sievers, preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Eunice Specketer, of Alta, will be held at the Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake, on Friday, October 17, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. There will be no visitation. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
