Wilma Jean Hale, age 72, of Rembrandt, Iowa, died November 23, 2010, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Wilma Jean Stange was born on August 21, 1938, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Willis George and Rose (Gehrke) Stange. She attended school in Rembrandt and graduated from Rembrandt High School in 1956.
As a youth, Wilma was baptized and later confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. A life-long active and devoted member of this church, she served on the Church Circle and the Board of Trustees. She also taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years.
On August 25, 1956, Wilma was united in marriage to Raymond Hale at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. This couple was blessed with six children: Teresa, Jeanne, Michael, Lisa, Kim and Angie.
Wilma was a member of the Rembrandt Library Board. She was a devoted homemaker and mother as well as a daycare provider for many years. She found much pleasure in making a warm home for her children and cherished the time she had with them. Specifically, Wilma loved watching her grandchildren grow. Additionally, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, sewing and attending the races at the Buena Vista Raceway in Alta. She will be remembered for her famous Apple Danish.
Those left to cherish Wilma’s memory include her husband of fifty-four years, Raymond Hale, of Rembrandt; her children: Teresa (Jr.) Lammers, of Rembrandt, Jeanne Iehl, of Rembrandt, Mike (Elaine) Hale, of Laurens, Lisa (Everett) Huffer, of Cedar Rapids, Kim (Eddie) Farris, of Rembrandt, and Angie (Charlie) Grienke, of Alta; her grandchildren: Justin Lammers, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jill Henningsen, of Rembrandt, Brian (Shayla) Iehl, of Albert City, Casey Iehl, of Rembrandt, John Hale, of Omaha, Nebraska, Jessica (Tony) Loehr, of Omaha, Matthew and Melissa Huffer, of Cedar Rapids, Courtney and Zachary Farris, of Rembrandt, and Cody Grienke, of Alta; two great grandchildren: Antonio and Sofia Gonzales; two sisters: Bonnie Brecher, of Rembrandt and Bev (Jon) DuBois, of Osceola, Iowa; and a host of extended family and friends.
Preceding Wilma in death were her parents; her son-in-law, Kevin Iehl; and her brother-in-law, Merle Brecher.
Visitation: 4-8:00 p.m. November 26, 2010, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. November 27, 2010, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, Iowa
