March 8, 1927 - October 9, 2003

Arnold R. Andersen, age 76, of Modesto, California, formerly of Alta, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2003, at the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Arnold Randle Andersen was born on March 8, 1927, to Henry and Martha Andersen in Alta. He was united in marriage to Helen, and they were blessed with one son, Richard.

Arnold served his country in the United States Navy from 1945 thru 1946. In 1951, he moved to California and was self-employed as a construction general contractor. Arnold and his family moved to Modesto in 1989. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Modesto. He enjoyed many activities including woodworking, fishing and hunting.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Helen Andersen, of Modesto, California; one son, Richard Andersen, and his wife, Alice, of Modesto, California; two grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Bellcour, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and other loving relatives and friends.

Preceding Arnold in death were his parents, Henry and Martha Andersen.

A public graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids at 11:00 a.m. The Graeber Rowe Post No. 394 of the American Legion in Sioux Rapids will provide the Military rites. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Grace Lutheran Church, 617 West Orangeburg Avenue, Modesto, California 95350 or to the American Legion Community Center in Sioux Rapids.
