March 2, 1909 - September 6, 2003

Florence H. Hanke, age 94, of Storm Lake, formerly of Early, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2003, at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Florence H. Lange was born on March 2, 1909, in Sac County, the daughter of August and Louise D. (Bauer) Lange. She lived on the farm with her parents and attended country school.

On December 21, 1927, Florence was united in marriage to Alfred A. F. Hanke. They were the parents of two daughters, Corinne and Jean Ann, and a son, Neal. They lived in Lake View until moving to a farm near Early. Florence was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Odebolt until it closed and then transferred her membership to Faith Lutheran Church in Early.

Florence was a busy housewife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed painting, gardening, and doing crafts.

She is survived by her children: Corinne, and her husband, J. Stanley Covey, of Storm Lake, Jean Ann, and her husband, Richard Hemer, of Lago Vista, Texas, and Neal, and his wife, Betty Hanke, of Topeka, Kansas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gladys Lange, of Storm Lake, and Dorothy Kincannon, of Denver, Colorado; a brother-in-law, Harold Hanke, and his wife, Dee, of Atlantic; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred, on July 4, 1996; and two brothers, Harold and Everett Lange.

Funeral Services for Florence H. Hanke will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Early with Vicar Charles Bettin officiating. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Cemetery in Storm Lake. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City, is in charge of arrangements.
