Lola Schmidt, age 90, of Newell, passed away Monday, September 15, 2003, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Lola Dorothy Marie Schmidt was born January 4, 1913, in Ida County, Iowa, to Henry and Emma Schroeder Voge. She was baptized on August 31, 1913, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Holstein, and was confirmed on July 28, 1929, at the same church.

Lola married Lawrence Schmidt on April 21, 1935, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Storm Lake. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Newell, for forty years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of Newell; one brother, Walter Voge, of Holstein and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Newell with Pastor Michael Harman officiating. Burial was in the Holstein Cemetery in Holstein. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
