Sylvia M. Jones, 72, of Sibley, formerly of Storm Lake, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the Country View Manor in Sibley.

Sylvia Marie Jones, daughter of Howard E. and Bertha (Brown) Jones, was born on June 11, 1931, at Ringsted. She lived with her family at Ringsted and received her education at the Ringsted and Seneca schools before moving to Storm Lake.

Sylvia worked with children at a day care center in Storm Lake. She moved to Yakima, Washington, in 1975, returning to Storm Lake in 1997 when she moved into the Buena Vista Manor because of her health concerns. On January 13, 2002, Sylvia moved to the Country View Manor in Sibley to be near her nephews. While there, she joined the Sibley United Methodist Church.

Preceding Sylvia in death were her parents; three brothers: Charles, James and Glenn; and two sisters: Harriet and Jean (Jones) Knudson.

Sylvia is survived by four nephews: Allen Knudson, of Milford, Chris Knudson, and his wife, Kathy, of Spirit Lake, Gail Knudson of Sibley, and Mark Knudson, and his wife, Karla, and son, Joshua, of Sibley as well as by a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at the Sliefert-Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home. The Sliefert-Asmus Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.
