June 18, 1940 - June 14, 2003

Carol Jean (Thies) (Seavey) Ashmore, age 62, of Storm Lake, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

The daughter of Fred and Theresa (Harms) Thies, Carol Jean Ashmore was born on June 18, 1940, in Sioux City. She was baptized in July of 1940 and confirmed in 1952. Carol attended Correctionville Public School and graduated in 1958.

She began working at the bank in Correctionville upon her graduation and later transferred to a bank in Sioux City. On April 9, 1961, Carol was united in marriage to Richard W. Seavey in Correctionville. This union was blessed with one son, Paul. In 1976, Richard passed away. On June 18, 1999, Carol was united in marriage to Craig Ashmore in Moville.

In 1975, Carol the joined First Federal Bank in Storm Lake and continued working there until 1982 when she moved to California. She returned to the First Federal Bank in 1986 and worked there until her retirement in April of 2002.

Carol was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alta where she played the organ and sang in the choir.

Among her many favorite hobbies, Carol enjoyed doing crafts, singing and traveling. She loved working in her yard, especially with her flowers. But most of all, she cherished spending time with her family who loved her very much.

Preceding Carol in death were her parents, Fred and Theresa Thies; her first husband, Richard Seavey, in 1976; her son, Paul Wesley Seavey, in 1979; her brothers: James, Dean, Elwood and Duane; and her sister, Marge Streeter.

Carol is survived by her husband, Craig Ashmore, of Storm Lake; her step-son, Randy Ashmore and his wife Tammy, of Danville, Kentucky, and their two children, Alexis and Deanna; her two sisters: Janice Wink and her husband Gene and Arlene Bernhardt and her husband Roger, all of Moville; her sisters-in-law, Norma Thies of Moville and Dorothy Thies of California; several nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alta with Reverend Kevin Huss officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. The Sliefert - Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
