September 16,1915 - May 16, 2003

Marie Ward, 87, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at her home.

She was born September 16,1915, to William and Emma (Rooth) Meyer on a farm near LaBolt, South Dakota, where she grew up. She graduated from Revillo High School. At the age of 16, she graduated from Northern Normal in Aberdeen and then taught school for six years.

On June 28, 1938, she married P.D. Ward at Annunciation Catholic Church in Revillo. They raised a family and lived in Revillo until 1968 when they moved to Storm Lake. In 1993, they and their son, Mark, moved to Fergus Falls.

She was a member of the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and ARC. She was always very active in her church and in her family's many activities. She was the model of strength, patience and love as she raised her family with faith that everything will be all right.

She is survived by four sons, Joe (JoAnn) Ward of Newell, South Dakota, Pat ( Susan) Ward of Fergus Falls, Michael (Angela) Ward of Littleton, Massachusetts, and Mark Ward of Fergus Falls; four daughters, Margaret Mary (George) Jurgens of Fergus Falls, Joann (Mark) Krauseneck of Grand Forks, Montana, Susan (Willy) Sloan of Quasqueton, and Angela (Joe) Bindner of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Gladys (Charles "Pete") Lynde of Revillo, South Dakota; one brother, Dayle (Marie) Meyer of Webster, South Dakota; 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, P.D, on August 25, 2002; a daughter, Catherine; a great-grandson, Mackenzie Knutson, and four brothers, Everett, Oliver, Donald and Ed.

Funeral Services for Marie Ward of Fergus Falls will be Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Revillo, South Dakota, with Father Robert Kieffer officiating and Sister Joyce Leibly helping. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with Father Ray Otto officiating. A prayer service will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
