Norbert Kacmarynski, age 82, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died November 2, 2010, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Norbert Joseph Kacmarynski was born October 2, 1928, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the son of Mat and Emma (Hager) Kacmarynski. He was baptized into the Catholic faith as an infant at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens, Iowa.
Growing up, Norbert attended school in Rembrandt, Iowa, graduating in 1946.
Following graduation, Norbert enlisted in the United States Army on January 3, 1951. He served his country during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged on October 2, 1952.
On November 6, 1950, Norbert was united in marriage to Elsie Boyd in Storm Lake. Together, they were blessed with 14 children.
Norbert was a member of the American Legion in Linn Grove, Iowa, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and traveling as well as playing cards and driving on the open road. Norbert treasured his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons: Larry (Debbie) Kacmarynski, of Rembrandt, Iowa, Andy (Pam) Kacmarynski, of Solon, Iowa, Raymond (Barb) Kacmarynski, of Ida Grove, Iowa, Dennis (Mary) Kacmarynski, of Spencer, Iowa, Matthew (Lori) Kacmarynski of Lennox, South Dakota, and Steven (Vikki) Kacmarynski, of Quincy, Illinois; his daughters: Emma (Tom) Rohrbaugh, of Spencer, Iowa, Marlene (Jerry) Bibler, of Peterson, Iowa, Lauretta Bauer of Audubon, Iowa, Karen (Jeff) James, of Alta, Iowa, Linda (Randy) Nieman, of Primghar, Iowa, and Angie (Paul) Niccum of Aurora, Colorado; 31 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie, in 2006; an infant daughter, Sue Kacmarynski; an infant son, Leo Kacmarynski, and his brother, Francis.
