May 23, 1948 - November 1, 2010Stanley J. Wolf, age 62, of Albert City, Iowa, died Monday, November 1, 2010, at his home.
Stanley John Wolf, the son of Stanley Frank and Marcella (Schnobrich) Wolf, was born in New Ulm, Minnesota, on May 23, 1948. He lived his youth and received his education in New Ulm, graduating from the New Ulm Cathedral. Stan continued his education at the Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where he received his bachelor’s degree in German.
On August 26, 1972, Stan was united in marriage to Kathleen Kirchner and on November 28, 1975, this couple was blessed with their daughter, Andrea Elizabeth. Stan and Kathleen later divorced.
Early in his career, Stan resided in Mankato, Minnesota, and was employed with Pamida and later the Hy-Vee grocery store in New Ulm. Stan later worked at the Jack & Jill grocery store in Mankato. In 1979, the family moved to Armstrong, Iowa, where he owned and operated Stan’s Foodland for many years. Stan purchased and operated the grocery store in Albert City in January of 1991. In September of 1998, Stan retired and sold the grocery store.
Stan will be remembered as an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching and listening to all sporting activities and events. He kept his mind active by working various types of puzzle books and also enjoyed entering into conversations of a political nature. Andrea was the joy of his life and he loved her very deeply. On October 16, 2010, Andrea was united in marriage to Chris Schock.
Those who will always love, honor, and cherish Stan’s memory include: his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea Wolf-Schock and Chris Schock of Rochester, Minnesota; three brothers: David (MaryAnn) Wolf of New Ulm, Minnesota; Fr. Paul Wolf of Marshall, Minnesota; and Steven (Lisa) Wolf of Lakefield, Minnesota; two sisters: Paula (Matthew) Sandry of Jerome, Idaho; and Karen (Kerry) McClellan of New Ulm, Minnesota; other extended family and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his godmother; and a great uncle.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November, 2010, at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Burial will be in New Ulm, Minnesota, at a later date. There will be no visitation. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
