Alan Herpst, age 61, of Storm Lake, died Friday, October 29, 2010, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.
Alan Wayne Herpst was born November 21, 1948, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Albert and Patty (Sliefert) Herpst. As a child, Alan was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake where he remained a lifelong member. Growing up, Alan attended Hayes Township School and later graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1968.
On December 20, 1970, Alan was united in marriage to Rebecca Fitchett at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with one daughter, Bonni.
In his youth, Alan was an active member of the Boy Scouts and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He loved crafts, country music and traveling. He enjoyed holidays, especially Christmas and his birthday. Alan loved life and treasured his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Bonni (William Christjaener) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his parents, Albert and Patty Herpst; brother, Gary (Connie) Herpst of Storm Lake; sisters: Laurie (Gary) Messerich of Glidden, Iowa; Vickie (Marvin) Wieck of Panora, Iowa; 8 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; great aunt, Dorothy Herpst of Storm Lake, Iowa; and many extended family and friends.
Alan was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. November 02, 2010, at United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
