Minnie Jensen
February 16,1906 - April 19, 2003

Minnie Jensen passed away at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake on Saturday, April 19, 2003.

Minnie was born on February 16,1906, in Holstein to Carl and Emma (Grefe) Bayer. She was the third of ten children born to Carl and Emma. Since she was the oldest daughter, she helped with her younger brothers and sisters. She completed school in Holstein through the 8th grade. At a very young age, she went to work helping several farm families in the area.

She was united in marriage to Axel Fred Jensen on March 30, 1927, in Sioux City. They were blessed with two children, Robert Duane and Donna Jean. Her life's work was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a loving sister, aunt, and homemaker. She will be remembered for her love of cooking, baking, especially her Christmas cookies, and gardening.

She lived most of life in Holstein, moving to Storm Lake in December 1985, and to Pleasant View Home in Albert City in November 1998.

She is survived by her children, Robert Jensen and his wife Monica, of Milford and Donna Godbersen of Cherokee; grandchildren, Susanne Bicknese, of Arnolds Park, Joleen Werkmeister and her husband Bill, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Pam and her husband Don Gude of Milford, Jim Godbersen and his wife Bette, of Cleghorn; great grandchildren, Rik Rydberg of Schaller, Jeni Hearting and her husband Chance, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Lowen Gude, of Milford, Taryn, Tyrel and Trace Godbersen of Cleghorn; a sister,Martha H. Bayer, of Holstein; a brother and his wife, Tony and Lee Beyer, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Beyer, of Holstein, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Axel; her parents; a son-in-law, Wilbert Godbersen, a grandson, David Godbersen; a great grandson, Trent Godbersen; five brothers, Carl, Henry, Richard, William and Arther. Two sisters, Hilda, in infancy and Emma Dunagan.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 2 p.m., for Minnie Jensen at the United Methodist Church in Holstein. Reverend Todd Schlitter of the Holstein United Methodist Church will officiate with burial at the Holstein Cemetery. The Barker Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge or arrangements.
