Kirby Lee Hansen
August 4, 1952 - June 19, 2010Kirby Hansen, 57, of Everly, IA, departed this earth to live with his heavenly Father on June, 19, 2010. He was hospitalized at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, and died from cancer complications.
Kirby Lee Hansen, son of Lowell and Kathryn (Donahoo) Hansen, of rural Alta, IA, was born August 4, 1952, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, IA.
He attended Highview Consolidated School in rural Alta, IA. He graduated from Sioux Valley Community School, Linn Grove-Peterson, IA, in 1971 and from Iowa Lakes Community College, Emmetsburg, IA, receiving an associate degree in Farm Management in 1973.
Kirby worked for his grandfather, Robert F. Donahoo, and uncle, Robert C. Donahoo, on the farm near Peterson, IA. Kirby began working for Morton Buildings in Spencer, IA, in 1975 where he continued to work until he became ill this year.
On November 9, 1975, he married Donna Beedle Bruns, of Sioux Rapids, IA, and to this union, one son, Colin, was born.
Kirby is survived by his wife, Donna, step-son, Thomas Bruns, both of Everly, IA, son Colin (Angela) Hansen, and grandson, Shaun Hansen, of Montgomery, AL. He is also survived by his mother, Kathryn Hansen, of Alta, IA; sisters, Deanna (William) Lund of Norwalk, OH, and Lisa (Robert) Kraus of Edwardsville, KS; brothers, Gary (Judy) Hansen, of Estherville, IA, and Victor (Jene) Hansen of Linn Grove, IA; 6 nephews and a host of relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Hansen, grandparents, Albert and Amy Hansen, Robert and Leona Donahoo, and Vena Donahoo.
Kirby enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandson Shaun, bowling, camping, gardening, racing slot cars, and raising show rabbits.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly, Dr. Rev. Robert Krause officiating; Gary Hansen, eulogy.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
INTERMENT: Barnes Township Cemetery, Linn Grove, Iowa
CASKET BEARERS: Jacob Krause, Jordan Krause, Kody Hansen, Kyle Hansen, Jared Hansen, Bob A. Donahoo
A lunch and time of fellowship will be held at the Sioux Rapids Community Center at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, following the graveside services.
