Clyde 'Bud' McCormick - July 2, 1926 - June 29, 2010

Clyde 'Bud' McCormick, age 83, of Boone, died June 29, 2010, at the Boone County Hospital.

Clyde was born in Storm Lake on July 2, 1926, the son of Claude and Marie 'Lena' (Helena) McCormick. He graduated from Canton High School in Canton, S.D., in 1944. Bud served with the United States Navy during World War II. Before entering the service, he was employed as a crane operator for Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union #40.

On May 27, 1950, Bud married Zona Faye Ekle at Canton, S.D. The couple lived in Canton, Windom, Minn., Rembrandt and Ogden, where Bud managed grain elevators for Cargil. He retired in 1989. In retirement, he helped part time at Rueter's Grain Division in Grand Junction and helped several local farmers at harvest time. Bud was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. He enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels, working in his yard, and mowing at the Hill Golf Course in Grand Junction.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons Michael and Douglas, a brother Jerold, and three sisters: Lorayne Craft, Lucille McCormick, and Norma Dunlap.

He is survived by a daughter Dianna Baker and her husband Sean of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a daughter-in-law Melissa McCormick of Ames; five grandchildren Austin, Zoe, and Mackenzie Baker, all of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Morgan and Madelon McCormick, both of Ames; a sister Lois Stensland of Inwood; a sister-in-law Florence Albert of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and a brother-in-law Charles Ekle and wife Carol of Lyle, Minn.

There will be no visitation or calling hours.

Memorials may be given to the Boone County Hospital Foundation.

His body has been cremated. Graveside services and burial of his cremains will be Friday, July 2, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Rembrandt with Rev. Connie Youngquist officiating.
