June 10, 1927 - June 19, 2010Storm Lake, Iowa
H. Harrison "Binks" Saathoff, age 83, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Harrison Saathoff, son of Henry M. and Alice Saathoff was born June 10, 1927, on a farm south of Storm Lake. Growing up, he attended and graduated from Hayes Consolidated School in 1944.
On August 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to Dorothea Marie Grotjohn at the Evangelical and Reformed Church of rural Schaller. This union was blessed with two children, Sharon and Rick.
Binks was an active member of the United Methodist Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family. He enjoyed many years of farming in the Storm Lake and Rembrandt areas. He was associated with Farm Bureau Insurance Company for many years. Binks had a passion for restoring antique Farmall tractors.
Binks was a gentle and kind man who enjoyed telling stories and having friends stop by his shop for a visit. He will be deeply missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothea (Dot); children, Sharon (Jay) Butterfield of Storm Lake and Rick (Joan) Saathoff of Canton, South Dakota; grandchildren: Ryan (Jill) Lalone, Sherae Lalone, Becky (Jesse) Coudron and Beth Saathoff; great grandchildren, Aubree and Katelyn Lalone; a brother, Clifford (Patsy) Saathoff, of Texas and a sister-in-law, Ruth Saathoff, of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
Binks was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Henry; and a brother, Harold (Fritz) Saathoff.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. June 23, 2010, at United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Visitation: 5-8:00 p.m. June 22, 2010, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
