Glen Paeper, age 88, of Newell, Iowa, died June 27, 2010, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell.
Glen Paeper, son of William and Laura Hazel (Hunter) Paeper, was born on August 1, 1921, in Newell, Iowa. He was baptized at the Methodist Church in Newell, Iowa, in 1947. Growing up, Glen attended school in Newell.
Glen served his country and enrolled in the United States Marine Corps on August 17, 1942, and served in the Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged in October 29, 1945.
On September 1, 1945, Glen was united in marriage to LaVonne “Bonnie” Lewis in Sioux City, Iowa. Together they were blessed with one child, Kurt Paeper.
Glen was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Throughout his life, he enjoyed driving truck. Along with trucking, Glen found great interest in motorcycles, Cushman’s, and old trucks and tractors. Glen treasured the time he was able to spend with his friends and family. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Kurt (Rosemary) Paeper of Humboldt, Iowa; his sister, Inez (Eggert) Thomsen of Newell, Iowa; his grandchildren: Jill (Dennis) Harson of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Jason (Matilda) Paeper of Carrolton, Kentucky; and Jeff Paeper of Pipestone, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Tylor Harson; extended family and many friends.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne (Bonnie) Lewis Paeper; and his brother, Dean of Livermore, Iowa
Visitation: 5-8:00 p.m. June 29, 2010, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell, Iowa
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. June 30, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Newell, Iowa
