Funeral Services for Forrest F. Hickman, 82, of Iowa City, formerly of Rembrandt and Storm Lake, were Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with Reverend Dwight DuBois officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.

Forrest F. Hickman was born on June 9, 1919, in Rembrandt, the only child of William and Lillie Kemp Hickman. He grew up and was educated there, graduating from Rembrandt High School in 1936. Mr. Hickman graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake in 1941 and then entered the US Armed Forces. He served 54 months during World War II.

He married Vivian Tuttle on June 3, 1944, in Storm Lake. After his discharge, he returned to Iowa and spent a year in secondary education before moving to Ames to pursue a degree in poultry husbandry, graduating in 1948. After a number of years in the poultry business, he returned to teaching, first at Dunkerton. Then after moving to Iowa City, he taught at City High School where he was a science teacher from 1965 to 1983. He received a master's degree in Science Education from the University of Iowa in 1967. Mr. Hickman was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on several boards over the last 35 years.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian; daughters, Iris and her husband Dean Baird, Stephanie Hickman; son David and his wife, Lynn Strausser; granddaughter Michelle Baird and husband, Gregory Rufenacht; grandsons: Roger Baird, Jon Hickman and Joel Hickman; granddaughter, Jeanette Hickman; great-grandsons: Matthew Rufenacht and Nicholas Rufenacht.
