Betty Stennerson, 62, of Sioux Rapids, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at her home at Sioux Rapids with all her family present.
Betty Althea Anderson was born July 30, 1939, the daughter of Orville M. and Ethel Beatrice Susanna (Emanuelson) Anderson at Sioux Rapids.
Betty attended school in Cornell, graduating in 1957. She then attended the Gail Institute in Minnesota for Airline Training and Business Training. Betty worked for the telephone office.
On January 30, 1960, Betty was united in marriage to Ronald Duane Stennerson at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. She helped her husband farm. Then they purchased the Soo Locker which they operated for 26 years until Betty retired in March of 2002.
Betty enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and develop, raising draft horses with her husband, refinishing antique furniture, and taking pleasure in her flower garden. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids where she was baptized and confirmed as a child.
Betty will be remembered for her caring and kindness and as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was filled with love and was the center of all family activity.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents, one sister, Dorothy Schacht, and two brothers, George and Doyle Anderson.
Survivors include her husband Ron Stennerson of Sioux Rapids; four daughters, Linda and her husband Rich Madsen of Rembrandt, Lisa and her husband Bruce Ferguson of Sioux Rapids, LeAnn Stennerson and her fiance Eric Briesemeister of Marion, Lora and her husband Lewis Wright of Sac City; eight grandchildren, Becky and her husband Darin Brown, Jeff Madsen, Jason Ferguson, Stefanie Madsen, Justin Ferguson, Michele Ferguson, Nicholas Wright, and Megan Wright.
Also surviving are four sisters, Edith Wells and Helen and her husband Robert Holmes all of Denver, CO, Barbara and her husband Byron Loving of Storm Lake, and Janet and her husband John Mills of Sioux Rapids; two brothers, Gary and his wife Julie Anderson of Rutland, and Richard Anderson of Sioux Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Lela Anderson of Linn Grove, and Deloris Anderson of Tomasboro, IL; one brother-in-law, Gerald Schacht of Decorah, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Betty Stennerson were held Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids with Pastor Ray Miller and Father John F. Cain officiating. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids.
