Funeral Services for Lois L. Carter, age 76, of Liberty Hill, Texas, and formerly of Sioux Rapids, were held Saturday, March 30, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberty Hill with Reverend Tom Osborn officiating. Interment was in the Liberty Hill Cemetery, Liberty, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1201 Maple Street, Box 743, Georgetown, TX. Arrangements were made by The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, Tx.

Lois was born on April 5, 1925, in Sioux Rapids to Colonel Buel Combs and Caroline Emma (Van Dyke) Combs. She relocated to Liberty Hill from Sioux Rapids after her retirement in 1997. Lois was a previous member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer and a current member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberty Hill, Texas.

As an entrepreneur, she was owner/manager and waitress to several restaurants and eateries throughout her long career.

She is survived by her sons: Pat Cannon and wife Linda of Liberty Hill, and Kevin Shuberg and wife Jerri of Castle Rock, Co; daughter, Paula Guerra of Storm Lake. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jesse Guerra of Storm Lake, Joe Cannon and wife Leigh Ann of Ames, Sam Shuberg of Castle Rock, Co., Ben Shuberg of Iowa City, Heidi Shuberg of Waterloo, Laura Cannon and Lacey Cannon, both of Liberty Hill; great grandchildren: Shelby R. Guerra and Riley A. Guerra, both of Quimby, and Grace Cannon of Ames.

She also leaves her sister's: June Gambrill of Eagle Grove and Lee Davis and husband Ed of Escondido, Ca.

Lois was preceded in death by her father, Colonel Buel Combs, and mother Carrie, six brothers and two sisters.
