Ouy Lovan, age 58, of Storm Lake, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN., of complications following a liver transplant operation.
Ouy was born December 9, 1943, in Xieng Peuk, SonLa Tai, North Vietnam, the daughter of An Baccam and Nhay Bac Thi. She immigrated to the United States in October of 1980.
She was married to Cheua Lovan in 1962 in Laos. They moved to Storm Lake from Spencer in 1986.
Ouy's family includes her husband, Cheua, of Storm Lake; four sons, Mahn Lovan, of Storm Lake, Choung Lovan, serving in the United States Military in North Carolina, Phay Lovan, serving in the United States Military in Germany, and Kong Khai, of Minnesota; two daughters, La Lovan, and her companion, Leroy Dean White of Charles City, and Chansouk Lovan, of Ames and her adopted parents, Phuc and Vang Baccam of Spencer.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Cody, McKenzie and Mason White of Charles City, 11 brothers including Bang Baccam and Khouang Baccam living in France, two sisters and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Peung and one brother.
The funeral service was held Tuesday April 16, 2002, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Reverend Barry Thongvanh officiating.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
