Ruth Graefenstein, 91, of Storm Lake, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Ruth H. Zinn was born July 12, 1910, the daughter of Edward and Mathilda (Mauser) Zinn at Storm Lake. After completing high school, she attended Morningside College in Sioux City. Ruth moved to Chicago, attended Cosmetology College and worked as a hairdresser for several years.
Ruth married Gerhard Paul Graefenstein in 1939 and moved to Morgan Park, IL. After her husband's death in 1972, Ruth moved back to Storm Lake. Ruth was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, reading, painting pictures, playing bridge and managing the family farm south of Storm Lake.
Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, her husband Gerhard, and one brother, Clifford Zinn.
Survivors include her two daughters, Bette and her husband Dick Yaeger of Sunnyvale, CA, and Barbara and her husband Fred Carlson of Yakima, WA; three grandchildren, Dee Ann and her husband Paul Hansen of Saratoga, CA, Scott Yaeger and his fiancee Naomi Nichol of San Jose, CA, and Teri Reichardt of North Bend, WA; three great-grandsons, James, Steven and Richard Hansen, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ruth Graefenstein will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Pastor Duane Queen officiating.
Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home.
