Doris Helen Bredvick, 86, of Sioux Rapids, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Doris Helen Benson was born June 3, 1915, the daughter of Lars and Astrid (Carlson) Benson in Linn Grove. She graduated from the Linn Grove High School in 1932.
Doris married James Adams in 1936. He was missing in action in the Pacific Ocean in 1945. She then married Rolfe Bredvick on January 15, 1948, in Jackson, MN. To this union two daughters were born, Linda and Susan. Doris and Rolfe farmed in Iowa and Wisconsin before retiring to Sioux Rapids in 1974. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, played piano by ear at the nursing home and at church, and enjoyed music, crocheting and handwork.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents, an infant brother, husband James and an infant, and husband Rolfe on May 23, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda and her husband Neale Roller of Des Moines, and Susan and her husband Randy Wergin of Kenosha, WI; one step-son, Donald and his wife Barbara Bredvick of Minong, WI; ten grandchildren, John and his wife Dorine Bredvick, Mark and his wife Lanea Bredvick, David and his wife Lorrie Bredvick, Carolyn Bredvick and friend Greg Rude, Melinda Bredvick, Joel Roller, Nathan and his wife Violetta Roller, Kirsten Roller, Christopher Wergin, and Kerri Wergin; four great-grandchildren, Nichole, Ethan, Cody, and Justin Bredvick. Also surviving are two sisters, Bernice Stanley of Rockford, IL, and Elaine and her husband Lloyd Otten of Chetek, WI.; nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Doris Bredvick will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids with Pastor Ray Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery, Sioux Rapids.
