Evelyn Steward, 90, Storm Lake, died on Saturday, February 9, 2002, at the Methodist Manor.
Evelyn Dora Marie Miller was born on July 27, 1911, at Alta, the oldest child of August and Neta (Arp) Miller. Evelyn attended St. John's Lutheran School at Hanover.
On February 14, 1934, Evelyn married C. Claude Steward in her parents' home, rural Storm Lake. Evelyn worked at Peterson Dry Goods at Alta and at Strickler's in Storm Lake. She and her husband farmed in rural Cherokee, Storm Lake, and Hartley.
The couple moved to Seattle, WA., in 1947 and worked for the Clint Lee Company, retiring in 1976 due to health problems. Evelyn moved back to Storm Lake in 1991 when she became a resident of the Methodist Manor.
Evelyn enjoyed salmon fishing and showing her family around the Washington area.
Survivors include her two sisters, Eleanor and her husband Earl Otto of Storm Lake and Lorraine and her husband Marvin Erichsen of Hartley; and five nephews and two nieces.
Preceding Evelyn in death were her parents, and one sister. Verna Prentice.
Funeral Services for Evelyn will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 13, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with Pastor Steven Schulz officiating.
Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Services are under the direction of the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
