Kenneth Hartman, age 67, of Storm Lake, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, Storm Lake, after a short illness.

Kenneth John Hartman was born July 5, 1934, in Rodman, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Gertrude (Kenne) Hartman. He graduated from Rodman High School and then attended Estherville Junior College and Mankato Business School.

On September 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Bormann at Assumption Catholic Church at Emmetsburg, Iowa. The couple had lived in Storm Lake since 1973.

Ken worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for International Harvester, for Luedkes and for Storm Lake International.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a longtime member and secretary of the Storm Lake Elk's Lodge #1636. Ken served in the United States Army from 1955-1957, he enjoyed vegetable gardening and was famous for his homemade tomato juice.

Ken enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, golfing and playing cards.

His family includes his wife Mary, Storm Lake; three sons: David and Karen and their children Elsey and Ethan, Ankeny, Dan and Gina and their children Allie and Hailey, Storm Lake, and Tom and Jane and their children Holly, Andrea and Alyssa, Columbus, Nebraska, and a daughter, Dianne Laures and her husband, Bob, of Clarksville.

Also surviving are two brothers: Gerald, Rochester, MN, and Richard and his wife, Cheryl, Chanhassen, MN, a brother-in-law, James Bates, Graettinger, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jeneane and a sister-in-law, Joyce Hartman.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 23rd, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake with the Reverend Douglas Klein officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
