Lorna Marian Winterhof, 72, of Albert City, died Wednesday, January 2, 2002, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Lorna was born April 13, 1929, the daughter of William and Hilda (Lichtenberg) Winterhof at Hanover. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hanover.

On April 13, 1952, Lorna married Edwin George Franzmeier at the St. John's Lutheran Church. Lorna was a housewife and helped on the farm. Following retirement from farming, they moved into Albert City in 1989.

Lorna was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, and the church choir. She was active at the Senior Center and a past member of the Buena Vista Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting and fishing, but she especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, following all the grandchildren's activities.

Preceding Lorna in death were her parents, brother Marvin and his wife Myrna Winterhof, and brother Harry Winterhof.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin of Albert City, two daughters, Diane Oppliger of Columbus, Neb., and Carol and her husband Ron Buske of Albert City; one son, Jim and wife Leslie Franzmeier of Newell; five grandchildren, Chad Buske and fiancee Kim Wels of Minneapolis, Minn.; Dan Buske and Callie Buske of Albert City; and Will Franzmeier and Ellen Franzmeier of Newell. Also surviving are three brothers, Orville and his wife Ione Winterhof, Wilmer and his wife Gloria Winterhof, and Vernon and his wife Suzanne Winterhof all of Aurelia, sister-in-law Dorothy Winterhof of Alta, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Lorna M. Franzmeier will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2002, at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Storm Lake, with Pastor Tom Egger officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established. The Sliefert Redig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
