H. W. (Bill) Ford, age 78, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kan. He was born Aug. 25, 1931, in Storm Lake, the son of Clarence and Eda (Wilkins) Ford.

Bill graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Agronomy. He married Barbara Wild on June 20, 1954, in Lincoln, Neb. They moved from Iowa to Lubbock, Texas, to work for Dekalb. In the 1960's he transferred to Ulysses, Kan., with Dekalb. He then worked for Ulysses Irrigation Pipe Company as an irrigation pipe salesman and retired from T&L Irrigation. Bill was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Iowa State Alumni Association and the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses. He enjoyed horse racing and all sports.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of Ulysses; one son Mike and wife Pearl of Beaver, Okla.; three daughters, Diane and husband Brad Nickelson of Clearwater, Kan., Karen and husband Eric Manuel of Littleton, Colo., and Martha and husband Chris Stahl of Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Bobbie Ford of West Des Moines, Marlene Stille of Storm Lake, Louise Ford of Storm Lake, and Judy Stilwell of Ft. Dodge; and 11 grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses, Kan., with Reverend Wayne Flanders officiating. Friends may call (620-356-1445) Wednesday, May 26, 2010, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kan. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
