Randy L. Wagener, age 59, of Alta, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a battle with cancer.
Randy was born on March 4, 1951, in Fort Dodge, to Everett and Lois (Bish) Wagener. As a child he lived on the family farm southwest of Fonda. He attended Fonda Schools until junior high, when the family moved to the Newell area. He graduated from Newell High School in 1969.
He married Julie "Peaches" Schoenfeld on Dec. 30, 1992. They spent their lives sharing love together with family, friends and their animals on a farm north of Alta.
Randy spent the majority of his working years employed at a local grain elevator and driving semi-truck cross country from Schuster Trucking of LeMars. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed tinkering on motors and building model cars. He also enjoyed watching Westerns and was an avid race fan, traveling to watch Sprint Car races with friends and family when he could.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Peaches Wagener; father, Everett Wagener; grandparents; and aunts, Evelyn Anderson and Wanda Daniels.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Strand and Tom Hinckley of Alta, and Tracy and husband John Nelson of Iowa City; mother, Lois Wagener of Storm Lake; grandchildren, Brandon, Josh and Mindy Hinckley of Alta, Kimberly and Corey Meyer of Iowa City, and Benjamin and Ella Nelson of Iowa City; two sisters, Rebecca and husband Mel Brunk of Dickinson, N.D., and Deborah Wagener and Ron Hamilton of Storm Lake; and brother, Tim Wagener of Storm Lake; and also many other relatives and friends.
The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
