Elizabeth Paul Dumbaugh, age 84, of Storm Lake, died Monday, December 31, 2001, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a brief illness.
E. Elizabeth Paul was born October 13, 1917, in Perry, the daughter of Jack Clayton and Elma (Brown) Paul. Her mother died when Elizabeth was six years old, and she went to live with her maternal aunt and uncle, Elsie and Ralph Plumb, of Des Moines.
She graduated from high school and from John Brown College in Siloam Springs, Ark., and then studied nursing at the University of Iowa. On March 8, 1937, she was united in marriage to Robert S. Dumbaugh at Des Moines. Robert died in September of 1971.
Elizabeth was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church where she helped with the Presbyterian Youth Club for many years, she was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, active in Boy Scouts and served on the Girl Scout Board in Storm Lake. She participated in several social clubs in Storm Lake in past years.
Her family includes a son Fred Dumbaugh and his wife, Susan, Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Barbara Semroska and her husband, Dick, Lakewood, Colo.; five grandchildren, Daniel Dumbaugh, Thomas Dumbaugh, Sarah Henderson, Rachel Bernhardt and Thomas Dumbaugh; and six great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Thomas Paul Dumbaugh on July 23, 1978, and by a brother, Robert Brown Paul.
Her body has been cremated and memorial services and burial will be scheduled later in Storm Lake. The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth requested that memorial contributions be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
