Mildred Horlacher, age 97, of Storm Lake, died Monday, December 31, 2001, at her rural Storm Lake home after a long illness.
Mildred Sharp was born April 11, 1904, in Monona County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Alice LaVina (Kelley) Sharp. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School and from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls.
She came to Truesdale in 1926 and was a teacher for more than 38 years, all but two years in Truesdale. Mildred was married to J.C. Clint Horlacher on June 24, 1929, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Truesdale and following the closing of that church joined the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. She was a member of PEO, Chaper EP, the Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Cosmopolitan Club.
She is survived by her husband, Clint, Storm Lake; a daughter, Polly Fabrizio, and her husband, Frank, Storm Lake; a grandson Clinton Randell Fabrizio, Clover, South Carolina; and 6 nieces and 2 nephews.
Her parents, two brothers, Elvin and Floyd and three sisters, Evelyn, Lois and Doris preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 4th, 2002, at Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home, 300 Cayuga Street, Storm Lake, with the Reverends Ken Bell and Durwood Clauson officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the Storm Lake Area Hospice.
