Cleora "Midge" Slater, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Lake Pointe Villa in Storm Lake.
Cleora Lillie Meseck was born on June 16, 1928, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Arthur and Melinda (Kruse) Meseck. She attended school in Hayes Township.
On July 11, 1948, Cleora was united in marriage to George Lewis Slater in Storm Lake. This couple was blessed with five children: Steven, Stuart, Pamela, Debra and Sheryl.
Midge was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She was a homemaker her entire life, creating a warm and safe place for her family to live and grow. Family was a very important part of Midge’s life and she took a special interest in their lives.
Her hobbies included: watching birds, reading books, playing Bridge, sewing, golfing and traveling on Caribbean cruises. One of Midge’s favorite lifetime events was when her children sent her and George to Europe for their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2008.
Those who will cherish Midge’s memory are her husband of over 60 years, George Slater, of Storm Lake; Steven (Sandi) Slater of Denison, Iowa; Stuart (Audrey) Slater of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Pam (Ky) Meske of Omaha, Nebraska; Deb (Allen) Jensen of Huxley, Iowa; and Sheryl (Ken) Rogalski of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; one brother, Lloyd Meseck of Houston, Texas; one sister, Arlene (Gilbert) Grienke of Aurelia, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; extended family and many friends.
Midge was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Melinda Meseck and her brother, Lawrence Meseck.
Visitation: 5-8:00 p.m. June 01, 2010, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. June 02, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Interment: June 02, 2010, at Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa
