Irene Anderson - Oct. 1, 1901 - Jan. 26, 2002

Irene Anderson, 100, of Pharr, Texas, and Storm Lake, died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at the Rio-Grande Hospital in McAllen, TX.

Irene Stafford was born October 1, 1901, the daughter of Thalmer and Amanda Belle (Hout) Stafford at Decatur, NE. She graduated from the Decatur high School in Decatur, NE. On May 3, 1924, Irene married William A. Anderson in Elk Point, SD.

Irene was a housewife and helped on the farm. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She enjoyed doing fancy work and crafts and traveling in the United States as well as overseas.

Preceding Irene in death were her parents, husband William in April 4, 1977, one grandson, William R. Ward, one granddaughter, Kathy Sue Anderson, one great-grandson, Richard Ward, four sisters, Frieda Donohue, Marie Anderson, Eva Sanders and Helen Pyle, and four brothers, Pete, Leo, Alvin and Francis Stafford.

Survivors include her daughter, Anna Belle and her husband Rudolph Ward of Pharr, TX, one son, William A. and his wife Vivian Anderson of Alta, four grandchildren, Debra and her husband Gary Demers of Alta, James and his wife Sally Anderson of Storm Lake, Dennis and his wife Melanie Anderson of Clive, and Julie Schultze of Alta, one granddaughter-in-law, Mary Ward of Storm Lake, eleven great-grandchildren, Randy and his wife Cindy Ward, Ronald and his wife Treva Ward, Amy Demers, Jeffrey Demers, Kristen Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Ben Anderson, Luke Anderson, Ryan Schultze, Tyler Schultze And Ryan Buckendahl, and one great-great-grandson, Chase Ward. Also surviving are two sisters, Donna Doll and Ruth Dimmick both of Decatur, NE, one brother Jack and his wife June Stafford of Omaha, NE, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service for Irene Anderson will be at 11 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2002, at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Pastor Douglas Haynes officiating.

Burial will be in the Cook Center Township Cemetery, Schaller. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. with the family being present at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
