Delta Peterson, 78, of Storm Lake, died Sunday, January 27, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Delta Dorothea Ehlers, the daughter of Harry Henry and Elsa Maria (Schramm) Ehlers, was born February 21, 1923, on the family farm northeast of Storm Lake.
On February 14, 1945, Delta was united in marriage to Clarence Theodore Peterson in Storm Lake. To this union one daughter, Margie, was born. Delta worked at Constable Drug, City Cafe, Cobblestone Inn, Lakeshore Cafe, and Harbor House in the kitchens as a dishwasher. She enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, crocheting, embroidering, and spending time with her family.
In May of 2001, Delta became a resident of the Correctionville Nursing Home in Correctionville.
Preceding Delta in death were her parents, husband, Clarence, on October 18, 1961, sister, Evelyn Spooner, and two brothers, Lloyd Ehlers and Barton Ehlers.
Survivors include her daughter, Margie, and her husband, Darrell Schmidt, of Anthon, four grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Jay Rinker, Lana and her husband Dave Comstock, Don Paulsen, Jr., and Dennis and his wife Lilly Paulsen, six great-grandchildren, Sarah Neely, Skler Rinker, Justin Neely, Caid Rinker, Zachary Paulsen and Latasha Paulsen. Also surviving are five sisters, Madeline James of Storm Lake, Rosezella Nelson of Park River, North Dakota, Lillian and her husband Clyde Johnson of San Juan Bautist, CA., Betty Johnson of Saskatchewan, Canada, and Aletha Neely of Broadrick, CA., one brother, Bruno Johnson of Plano, IL., one sister-in-law, Joan Ehlers of Eugene, OR., many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Delta Peterson will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2002, at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Schlitter officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Alta.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home.
