Ardith J. Sheets, age 91, of Storm Lake, died Thursday, November 29, 2001, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a lengthy illness.

Ardith Joy Skeels was born December 24, 1909, at Swallum Hospital in Storm Lake, the daughter of Arthur E. and Christine R. (Steig) Skeels. She graduated from Storm Lake High School with the class of 1927 and then attended the Chicago School of Business.

Prior to her marriage, she worked for Fritcher Abstracting Company, and then from 1964 to 1982, she worked for Security Trust and Savings Bank of Storm Lake.

She was married to Lewis C. Sheets on September 18, 1937, at Sioux City. The couple made their home in Storm Lake and then lived in California and Colorado before returning to Storm Lake in 1964. Lewis died in 1981.

She is survived by two daughters, Koy Sheets, Storm Lake, and Tamra Fortin and her husband, Robert, Storm Lake, a son, Arthur E. Sheets and his wife, Thelma, Erie, Colorado, and five grandchildren, Julie Fortin and her husband, Rich Klahn, Lindy Fortin, Charles Fortin, Jessica Fortin and Alan Sheets and his wife, Sarah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 3rd, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home, 300 Cayuga Street. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established for the Storm Lake Area Hospice.
