Jack L. Bayliss of Oak Harbor, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 2, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Heavener, Oklahoma, on July 15, 1924. He grew up in the Tulsa area where he attended school. He entered the United States Navy at the age of 18 and served four years. Upon discharge, Jack settled in California in the Los Angeles area where he met and married his wife, Irene. Soon after they moved to Storm Lake and resided there for 30 years.
Jack was employed at Hygrade Food Products for 20 years. Then he opened his own business, a used furniture and antique store.
In 1982, Mr. Bayliss moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he managed a bookstore for the next seven years. In 1989 Jack and Irene retired to Oak Harbor to be near his children. They were members of the Lighthouse Christian Center.
A memorial gathering for family and friends was held Tuesday, November 6, 2001, at the Lighthouse Christian Center of Oak Harbor.
The family request memorials to be sent to the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Oak Harbor. Assisting with the arrangements was Burley Funeral Chapel.
